BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - Serbia sent a fire brigade and a medical team to help Greece tackle forest fires, Serbian officials said Tuesday.
Thirty-six firefighters, two health personnel, 14 fire trucks and an ambulance left from the city of Nis.
The head of the Emergency Situations Department, Luka Causic, said Serbian teams were sent to the region where they were most needed.
The move came based on the agreement between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis, on orders of Serbian Interior Minister Bratislav Gasic.
"They did a pretty good job wherever they went. Their equipment and equipment are also pretty good," he said.
Dozens of wildfires have been ravaging Greece for days, including on the island of Rhodes, a tourist hotspot.
Several countries, including Türkiye, have reached out to help Greece in extinguishing the blazes, which have burned houses and forests.
