BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) – Some ethnic Serbian groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina attempted to incite Muslims in the country by carrying out anti-Islamic actions on Christmas Day, which is observed by Orthodox Christians on Sunday.
Ultranationalist Serbian groups organized a vehicle convoy and shouted insults at Muslims in the Vlasenica town of Republika Srpska entity of Bosnia.
The Zvornik Police Department, which is responsible for the region, launched an investigation into the incident.
"Zvornik Police Department condemns this and all similar behavior and calls on citizens to refrain from making such attempts," the police said in a statement.
Bosnian ultranationalist Serbs had made similar provocations in the previous years, who threw parts of slaughtered pigs in front of the Srebrebica genocide memorial cemetery, where genocide victims are buried.
