ISTANBUL (AA) - Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic completed his move to Roma on a one-year deal, the Italian club announced on Tuesday.
Matic "has put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract with the Giallorossi that runs until 30 June 2023," the club said in a statement.
Matic said he is "pleased" and "honoured" to join the club and "I cannot wait to start the new season with my teammates."
“Roma is a big club, with amazing fans and a coach, Jose Mourinho, who is well known to everyone – making the decision to come here very straightforward," he added.
“Nemanja brings with him to Roma not just a lot of quality on the pitch, but the vast experience he has gained from so many seasons in the Premier League and a focus and mentality that has consistently set him apart throughout his career,” said Tiago Pinto, the club’s general manager.
The 33-year-old helped Chelsea win three Premier League titles, one English FA Cup, and one English League Cup. He has also played for Vitesse, Benfica, and Manchester United.
Matic represented Serbia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, and has scored two goals in 48 matches for his nation.
