STOCKHOLM (AA) - Several restaurants in Denmark have dropped Coca-Cola products as part of a boycott against Israel, according to media reports.

“Several eateries in Copenhagen and the great capital area have excluded Coca-Cola from the beverage range as part of a boycott movement against Israel,” broadcaster TV2 said Sunday.

Organizers and participants stressed that it is on the grounds that the soft drink manufacturer contributes to the oppression of the Palestinians and contributes to the continuation of Israel’s occupation of Palestine.

Ferdi Akbulut, the owner of a restaurant that is participating in the campaign, said he wanted to show solidarity and sympathy with Palestine by dropping Coca-Cola products from his menu.

“People support it and give very positive feedback,” he said.

TV2 maintained that some restaurants have also opted out of Pepsi products because it owns the Israeli company, Sodastream.
