ISTANBUL (AA) - Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico is out of life-threatening danger but remains in a serious condition, officials said Sunday.
Fico's recovery will be lengthy and painful, requiring weeks of rest, a hospital official said, according to the News Agency of the Slovak Republic (TASR).
The prime minister's transfer to another hospital is neither planned nor possible in the near future, Deputy Prime Minister Robert Kalinak noted.
Fico was shot multiple times on Wednesday while engaging with supporters in the town of Handlova in central Slovakia.
