ANKARA (AA) – Slovenia qualified for the quarterfinals in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after a 116-81 win against host Japan in men's basketball on Thursday.
Slovenian duo Luka Doncic and Zoran Dragic combined for 49 points in the Group C match at Saitama Super Arena.
Doncic scored 25 points and Dragic added 24 for the winning team.
Rui Hachimura racked up 34 points to lead Japan and be the top scorer of the game.
Slovenia won all their two games to top the Group C, as it was enough to bag the last eight ticket. They previously beat Argentina 118-100 in the Tokyo 2020.
Third-place Japan lost two games in the Olympics.
In their final group fixture, Slovenia will face Spain on Sunday.
Meanwhile on Thursday, second-place Spain will play against Argentina.
With a 1-0 win/loss record in the Olympics, Spain are in need of a win to clinch the quarterfinals berth in Tokyo.
