ISTANBUL (AA) - The S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed with losses for the fourth consecutive trading day on Wednesday.
The S&P 500 fell 29 points, or 0.58%, to end the day at 5,022. The Nasdaq plummeted 181 points, or 1.15%, to finish the session at 15,683.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 45 points, or 0.12%, to close at 37,753.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was down 1.03% to 18.21. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell 1.45% to 4.589%.
The US dollar index lost 0.3% to 105.94, while the euro remained unchanged at $1.0671 against the greenback.
Precious metals were mixed, with gold trimming 0.9% to $2,361 per ounce but silver rising 0.4% to $28.22.
Oil prices were in the red, with global benchmark Brent crude at $87.44 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $82.86.
