ANKARA (AA) - American club LA Galaxy on Thursday announced the transfer of Spanish midfielder Riqui Puig from Barcelona.
“Puig will be signed to a three-and-a-half-year contract through the end of the 2025 MLS regular season pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P1 Visa,” the Major League Soccer side said in a statement.
Head coach Greg Vanney hailed the 22-year-old Puig, who mainly plays as a central midfielder, as “a very technical and well-educated player with incredible experiences for his age.”
“He will fit seamlessly into our group and style of play,” Vanney added.
A Barcelona statement said the Spanish club “reserves the right to repurchase the player and 50% on any future sale.”
Puig joined Barcelona’s youth team in 2013, made his senior debut in 2018 and became a full member of the senior team in 2020.
He scored two goals and made three assists in 57 appearances for Barcelona.
During his time at the club, Barcelona won the La Liga title in 2019 and the Spanish Copa del Rey in 2021.
