ATHENS (AA) - Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said Wednesday he may leave office concerning allegations about his wife.
He wrote on X that he is canceling his agenda to deliberate whether he should continue on his post following a complaint filed against his wife, Begona Gomez.
"I urgently need to answer the question of whether it is worth it, despite the mud into which the right and the extreme right try to turn politics,” he wrote.
Public broadcaster TVE drew attention that the announcement came after an investigation by the Investigative Court Number 41 of Madrid was initiated against Gomez for alleged crimes of influence peddling and business corruption. That was after a complaint from the right-wing Clean Hands union.
Sanchez will announce his decision May 29, it added.
