JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (AA) – A suicide bomber detonated his explosives near the U.S. consulate in the Saudi city of Jeddah early Monday that left two security personnel injured, according to local media.
Saudi Arabian Interior Ministry said in a statement the bomber had detonated his suicide vest after security forces detected his suspicious movements in the parking lot of Dr. Sulaiman Hospital.
Local media reports suggested the assailant’s target was the U.S. consulate, which is located on the same street as the hospital.
The Saudi Gazette said the blast left “two diplomatic security personnel” injured.
