KANO, Nigeria (AA) - Nine people were killed and six others abducted by suspected gunmen in northwestern Nigeria early on Sunday, according to officials.
Police spokesman Sanusi Abubakar confirmed the incident in which eight men and a woman were killed by the alleged gunmen, locally known as bandits.
The attackers also carted away herds of cattle belonging to the villagers during the raids that took place in the Goronyo local government area of Sokoto state.
A manhunt for the suspects continues in Sokoto, Abubakar added.
