ATHENS (AA) - Sweden announced its biggest military aid package for Ukraine, worth 7.1 billion Swedish krona ($685 million), media reports said Tuesday.
The new package was specifically designed according to Ukraine's needs, said Defense Minister Pal Jonson, according to public broadcaster, SVT.
“Ultimately, it's about humanity and decency,” he said. “It is also about defending values and interests that are important to Sweden and Sweden's interests.”
The package, the 15th since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022, includes much-needed 155mm artillery ammunition, TOW and Carl Gustaf anti-tank weapons, RBS-70 short-range air defense missile systems, underwater weapons, including mines and torpedoes and CB-90-type naval fast attack crafts, among other items.
More than 2 billion krona from the package will be allocated to purchase weapons Ukraine needs, including Swedish-made CV-90 heavy infantry fighting vehicles, it said.
