LONDON (AA) - Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg was arrested after joining hundreds of people in London protesting a major energy forum.
The protest was held outside the InterContinental on Park Lane, the venue for the Energy Intelligence Forum, a gathering of major oil and gas executives and government ministers.
In a statement, Metropolitan Police said that some 20 protesters have been arrested for "breaching the condition."
Joining many other protesters, she was arrested while protesting the Energy Intelligence Forum, taking place at the InterContinental London Park Lane hotel in Mayfair.
Police officers remain on the scene.
"The elite of the oil and money conference have no intention of transition ... their plan is to continue this destructive surge of profits. That is why we have to take direct action," the 20-year-old activist said early Tuesday ahead of the protest.
