ANKARA (AA) - Sweden's Nils van der Poel sealed a gold and set an Olympic record in men's 5000m speed skating at the Beijing Games on Sunday.
The 25-year-old won the race in a record time of 6 minutes, 8.84 seconds.
Dutch athlete Patrick Roest took silver in 6:09.31, while Hallgeir Engebraaten from Norway claimed silver in 6:09.88.
It is the first gold for Sweden in speed skating since 1988.
"What a thriller show, the heart stops," said the Swedish Olympic Committee in a tweet.
