ISTANBUL (AA) - Daniel Yule made alpine skiing history on Sunday by staging an unprecedented comeback to win a World Cup slalom in Chamonix, France.

Having been 30th after the opening run, Yule delivered a stunning second run to move to first.

"Absolutely incredible, I got really lucky, staying 30th after the first run but then I managed to ski an amazing second run and... wow, it's just unbelievable. It was a long wait down here, but a nice one," Yule said after the race.

Yule, 30, secured the victory 0.16 seconds ahead of compatriot Loic Meillard, while France's Noel Clement came in third place, finishing 0.18 seconds behind the leader.

The Swiss skier became the first racer to win an International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup slalom race having been 30th after the opening run.
