ISTANBUL (AA) - Tajikistan's chief mufti was injured in an attack in the capital Dushanbe on Wednesday, the Interior Ministry said.
A statement by the ministry said a citizen with "hooligan motives" stabbed Saidmukarram Abdulkodirzoda after prayers near Dushanbe’s central mosque at 5:20 p.m. local time (1220GMT).
Abdulkodirzoda received minor injuries, was later escorted to his residence after medical examination.
The assailant was detained, the ministry said, adding that an investigation was underway.
