JERUSALEM (AA) - A technical malfunction at a power generation station caused electricity outage for nearly 10,000 homes across Israel, Israeli media reported on Sunday.

The cities affected by the power outage were Haifa, Ashkelon, Bnei Brak and Petah Tikva, Channel 12 said citing Israel Electric Corporation.

A malfunction occurred in one of the generation units in the city of Petah Tikva, resulting in the power outage, the channel said.

The power outage was not the result of a cyber-attack, it added.

The fault was resolved, alternative production units were put into operation, and electricity was restored to most of the homes, according to the channel.
