ISTANBUL (AA) - Defending champion Sofia Kenin on Thursday crashed out of the Australian Open women's singles.
World number four Kenin was beaten by Kaia Kanepi of Estonia in 6-3 and 6-2 sets in the second round at Melbourne Park.
World number one Ashleigh Barty moved to the third round after beating Daria Gavrilova of Australia 6-1 and 7-6.
The Czech Republic's Karolina Pliskova, Belgium's Elise Mertens, and Switzerland's Belinda Bencic qualified for the next round after besting their opponents.
In men's singles, Russia's Andrey Rublev and Italy's Matteo Berrettini advanced to the third round.
