ANKARA (AA) - Tennis top seed Carlos Alcaraz, who has a leg injury, will return to action in February to play in the Argentina Open as he will miss the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year.
"I wanted to let you guys know that I will be playing the Argentina Open," Alcaraz, 19, said in a video message on Instagram on Wednesday.
"I'm honestly super excited to travel to Argentina and play there, so I hope to see everyone there. I'll see you soon," he added.
The ATP 250 tournament in Buenos Aires will kick off on Feb. 11.
Last week, Alcaraz said he had withdrawn from the 2023 Australian Open, set to begin in Melbourne on Jan. 16, due to a right leg injury.
He won the 2022 US Open, his first Grand Slam title, and became the youngest world no. 1 in men's tennis.
