ISTANBUL (AA) — Turkish law enforcement captured one of the perpetrators of a deadly 2013 terrorist attack in southern Türkiye, that led to the death of 53 people, local authorities announced on Saturday.
Police teams in coordination with intelligence forces captured Cengiz Sertel, who was found to have transferred the explosives used in the attack in the Reyhanli district of Hatay province from Syria to Türkiye, according to a written statement by the provincial governor's office.
Sertel was wanted under a red bulletin and the orange category on the Turkish Interior Ministry's list of those wanted for terrorism.
On May 11, 2013, 53 people were killed and many civilians injured in two separate bomb attacks in the Reyhanli.
