EDIRNE, Turkey (AA) - Three suspects allegedly linked to the PKK and Fetullah Terror Organization (FETO) terrorist groups were arrested in western Turkey while trying to cross into Greece, a military source said on Wednesday.
Border troops rounded up two PKK suspects identified by the initials E.D. and R.O. and FETO suspect H.P. near the Pazarkule border crossing in the Edirne province, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.
The source said one of the PKK suspects was carrying a fake ID when he was caught.
FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the attempted July 2016 coup which left 250 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey as well as the U.S. and EU. In its three-decade-plus terror campaign against Turkey, more than 40,000 people have been killed.
Since the group resumed its armed campaign in July 2015, more than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives.
