AFYONKARAHISAR, Turkey (AA) - Racing in western Turkey, Tim Gajser of Slovenia won the second race of FIM Motocross World Championship Afyon stage (MXGP of Afyon) with 34:44.781 on Wednesday.
Dutch rider Jeffrey Herlings of KTM placed second with 34:50.728 while Italian racer Antonio Cairoli of KTM took third place with 34:53.759 at Afyon Motorsports Center.
Herlings grabbed 47 points with 25-22 while last champion Gajser took 45 points with 20-25 in two races of the Afyon stage.
The 24-year-old Honda rider, Gajser, currently tops the MXGP championship classification table with 355 points while Kawasaki rider Romain Febvre of France placed second with 327 points and KTM racer Antonio Cairoli took the third spot with 326 points.
KTM currently leads the manufacturers' classification table with 423 points while Honda took the second spot with 356 points and Kawasaki placed third with 332 points.
The next race in the MXGP championship will be held on the island of Sardinia, Italy on Sept. 19.
