ISTANBUL (AA) – Top Chinese and Russian officials will hold strategic security consultations in China, the Foreign Ministry in Beijing said on Monday.
China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi will host Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoygu for the 19th round of the annual bilateral strategic security consultations on Tuesday.
“The discussions will focus on enhancing mutual trust and coordinating positions on bilateral relations and significant issues related to the strategic security interests of both countries,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said.
Shoygu will also co-chair a meeting of the China-Russia law enforcement and security cooperation mechanism during his trip which concludes on Friday.
The visiting Russian official will also hold talks with Chen Wenqing, the secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China.
Shoygu is also expected to attend the five-day Airshow China in Zhuhai city of the southern Guangdong province.
The airshow will start on Tuesday. Russia's Su-57 advanced stealth fighter is set to make its debut at the event and China will also unveil its J-20 stealth fighter jet.
