ISTANBUL (AA) - The total population of 27 EU member states increased to 449.2 million in 2024, according to data from the EU’s statistical bureau, Eurostat, on Thursday.
The total population of the EU states went up slightly by 1.6 million, from 447.6 million to 449.2 million in 2024.
The EU's population growth was driven by post-COVID-19 migration and Ukrainians receiving temporary protection status.
Germany is the most populous member of the EU with 83.4 million inhabitants, while the least populous countries are Malta with 563,000 and Luxembourg with 672,000, the data showed.
Meanwhile, the total population of Türkiye stands at 85.8 million.
