ISTANBUL (AA) - Japanese automakers Toyota and Mitsubishi have banned their employees from using the Chinese AI chatbot DeepSeek, according to Kyodo News Agency on Wednesday.

Toyota, the world's largest carmaker by volume, has prohibited the use of DeepSeek with an official stating: "We have concerns from an information security standpoint," according to the report.

Mitsubishi Heavy, a Japanese military business, does not let its workers to utilize the chatbot for work reasons.

SoftBank also stated that it prohibited workers from downloading and utilizing DeepSeek on their work-issued smartphones and limited access to the chatbot from within the organization.

A representative of a significant material manufacturer that also prohibits its usage admitted the "high risk," stating that the model is different from other generative AI the firm uses.

DeepSeek, a Chinese AI chatbot system, is viewed as a response to the new US trade restrictions on semiconductors and investments on the AI infrastructure.
