ANKARA (AA) – Fourteen people were injured in a tram car collision at a California film studio theme park on Saturday evening, officials said.
Lt. Maria Abal of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the final car of a tram struck a railing while going down a hill in a parking structure at the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park, the Los Angeles Times reported.
"There was some type of issue with the brakes. We don’t exactly know what yet," she said.
Of the 14 people injured, four were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, said LA Fire Department spokesman Fredrick Fielding.
Universal Studios Hollywood theme park told the newspaper: "We are working to support our guests and understand the circumstances that led to the accident.”
The crash will also be subject to an investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
The tram studio tour is a hallmark attraction at the theme park. With the park preparing to mark the ride's 60th anniversary next week, it gives the public an inside look at the production of famous films, from "Jaws" to Jordan Peele’s "Nope."
