WASHINTON (AA) - Hundreds of truckers gathered in the American state of Texas, to protest US President Joe Biden's immigration policies Saturday and support Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
The convoy, dubbed "Take Our Border Back," was organized in response to the ongoing dispute between the Biden administration and Abbott about border security.
Protesters, many of whom were Republican supporters, drove their trucks through the border region of Eagle Pass while honking their horns and waving American flags.
They displayed signs criticizing Biden's immigration policies and praising Abbott for his efforts to secure the border.
A protester from the state of Missouri told Anadolu that Biden has opened the borders to everyone, and he claimed that it has resulted in a breakdown of the integrity of the US.
"What Biden has created is chaos. Our culture is falling apart due to this chaotic policy," said the protester.
Another said Abbott is solely trying to enforce the Constitution as he criticized Biden for allegedly being incapable of ensuring border security and upholding laws.
Abbott ordered 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) of barbed wire at the Eagle Pass border and accused Biden of insufficient border security.
The Biden administration, citing federal authority, sought the removal of the barbed wire through the Supreme Court.
But despite a ruling from the top court, Abbott refused to comply, leading to a dispute.
The Texas National Guard hindered border patrol, and 25 Republican governors expressed solidarity with Texas.
