ANKARA (AA) - Voicing disappointment in the Supreme Court, US President Donald Trump said the nine justices should have heard his legal challenges to the Nov. 3 victory of President-elect Joe Biden.
"I am very disappointed in the United States Supreme Court, and so is our great country!" Trump said late Thursday on Twitter.
Although the US Electoral College affirmed Biden's victory over Trump on Monday, with a vote of 306-232, Trump continues to allege widespread voter fraud, notwithstanding over 80 judges finding the claims baseless.
Trump claimed in a separate tweet that he "won Wisconsin big" but Democrats "rigged the vote."
On Nevada, Trump said that recently released data shows "many thousands of noncitizens voted" in the state. "They are totally ineligible to vote!" he added.
- US a 'third world country'
After a series of defeats so far in Pennsylvania, Trump's legal challenges fell short in Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and Wisconsin, where courts rejected lawsuits filed by his campaign.
A lawsuit filed by the state of Texas challenging the results in the battleground states of Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin claimed the voting processes were unlawfully changed before the Nov. 3 elections due to the coronavirus outbreak. But last week the Supreme Court rejected the case.
It remains uncertain if the court will decide to hear any more legal challenges by Trump, as they have failed in lower courts and most legal observers say he has exhausted reasonable avenues to reverse his loss.
According to several polls, an overwhelming majority of Republican voters support Trump's claims that the Nov. 3 election was rigged. Trump has long argued that it is the ''most corrupt election'' in country's history and even likened US to a ''third world country.''
- Flynn urges Trump to use martial law to rerun elections
Michael Flynn, who briefly served as Trump’s national security adviser, said Thursday that the president could use martial law to rerun elections in swing states.
Such use of martial law to prevent Biden's victory would not be "unprecedented," Flynn told Newsmax, a conservative news outlet.
"Within the swing states, if he wanted to, he could take military capabilities, and he could place those in states and basically rerun an election in each of those states," Flynn claimed.
"I mean, it’s not unprecedented. These people are out there talking about martial law like it’s something that we’ve never done. Martial law has been instituted 64 times."
He added that a constitutional process has to be followed while doing this.
Earlier this month, Trump issued a pardon of Flynn for crimes he might have committed involving a two-year investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.
No US president has ever declared martial law to hold a new election.
