TUNIS, Tunisia (AA) – Tunisia on Sunday condemned a drone attack on the home of Iraq’s prime minister in Baghdad’s high-security Green Zone.
“We condemn the cowardly terrorist attack on the residence of Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Tunisia expresses its full solidarity with Iraq and fully stands by the Iraqi people in the face of all attempts targeting its security and stability, it added.
Earlier Sunday, the Iraqi army said al-Kadhimi survived an assassination attempt after explosive-laden drones targeted his residence.
Following the attempt, al-Kadhimi called for "calm and restraint from all for the sake of Iraq."
The attempt came amid protests by supporters of the Iran-backed Al-Fatah Alliance and Hashd al-Shaabi militia against the results of last month’s parliamentary elections.
