ISTANBUL (AA) - An Istanbul court on Monday sentenced 10 former staffers from a shuttered daily linked to FETO -- the group behind the 2016 defeated coup -- to prison on terrorism-related charges.
The 13th High Criminal Court in Istanbul handed down jail terms of three to nine years on charges of armed terror group membership and assistance.
Among the 10 people convicted were former executives of now shut Zaman newspaper.
FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 250 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
