ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkish police arrested 30 people in Istanbul over their suspected links to the far-left DHKP-C terror group, a security source said on Friday.
The suspects, accused of plotting attacks and operating for the DHKP-C, were arrested in raids across the metropolis and during unauthorized demonstrations, said the source on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
Digital materials and documents related to the group were seized during the operations as well.
The DHKP-C is responsible for a number of terror attacks in Turkey, including a 2013 attack on the US Embassy in Ankara, which martyred a Turkish security guard.
The group is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU.
