KAHRAMANMARAS, Turkey (AA) - A total of six people, including soldiers, were arrested on Tuesday for their alleged links to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), the terror group behind the 2016 defeated coup in Turkey.

In an operation based in southeastern Kahramanmaras province, counter-terrorism police carried out simultaneous raids in seven provinces.

The suspects are accused of using a system for sequential search and crypto coding, which is used by FETO members.

During the operations, the police also seized several digital equipment.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
