ANKARA (AA) - The number of vehicles registered in Turkey decreased by 4.6 percent year-on-year in February, reaching 65,008, according to the country's statistics authority on Tuesday.
The total number of road motor vehicles registered was over 21.2 million by the end of February, the Turkish Statistical Institute said.
In February, automobiles accounted for most new registrations -- 58.7 percent -- while small trucks accounted for 17.7 percent. Motorcycles were third on 9.9 percent.
In terms of distribution of model brands for new registered cars in the month: 22.2 percent were Renault; 11.9 percent Volkswagen; 7.3 percent Hyundai; 6.7 percent Dacia; 6.7 percent Fiat; 5.1 percent Toyota; 4.7 percent Honda; 4.6 percent Nissan; 4.2 percent Ford; and 4.2 percent Opel.
Other brands accounted for 22.4 percent.
In the first two months of the year the number of registered motor vehicles rose by 8.1 percent compared to the same period last year, to 193,656, TurkStat added.
