ADANA/MUGLA, Turkey (AA) - Nine people were arrested across Turkey for their suspected links to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), security sources said on Sunday.
In a southwestern Mugla-based operation, the Turkish security forces arrested five suspects from the Turkish military, said a source on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
Simultaneous operations were conducted in 19 provinces across Turkey to arrest the suspects, the source added.
Separately, four suspects were arrested during an operation conducted in southern province of Adana, another source said.
FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup attempt of July 15, 2016, which left 250 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
Ankara accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.
