ANKARA (AA) - Exports of automobiles from Turkey increased by 12.23 percent in the first eight months of 2016 compared to the same period the previous year, according data from the country's Exporter's Assembly (TIM) compiled by Anadolu Agency.
Turkey’s automotive exports increased to $15.14 billion from January to August compared to $13.49 billion in the same period of 2015, according to TIM.
The export value in August was the second highest of this year with an increase of 23.39 percent year-on-year, the data showed.
The export value of automative rose to $1.68 billion in August 2016 from $1.36 in the same month last year.
In the first eight months of 2016, automotive exports obtained the largest share with 17 percent of Turkey's total exports, which decreased by 2.9 percent to $85.32 billion, Then followed the ready-made sector and the chemical sector with 13.6 percent and 10.8 percent respectively, TIM reported.
The country's automobile sector exported to 12 free trade zones and 184 countries and autonomous regions in the first eight months of the year, the assembly added.
