ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish Taekwondo team won 229 medals in the Turkish Open 2021, Turkey's Taekwondo Federation announced on Thursday.
Turkey collected 60 gold, 58 silver, and 111 bronze medals in total at the end of the 8-day tournament held in Istanbul, the Federation said in a statement.
Nafia Kus, Emine Gogebakan and Gorkem Polat, who have already qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, claimed gold medals.
The chairman of the federation, Metin Sahin, said the tournament featured many exciting games allowing Turkish athletes to gain experience, congratulating the athletes, trainers, referees on their efforts.
The Turkish Open 2021, which brought together 1,590 athletes from 46 countries, was held between March 10-17.
