ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's crude steel production rose 7.5% year-on-year to 3.1 million tons in July, a trade association said on Tuesday.
The country's steel product exports posted a decline of 1.6% to 1.9 million tons in the same period, the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD) said.
The country earned $1.3 billion in revenue from steel exports in July, down 8.7% from the same month last year.
However, steel imports jumped 17.4% to 1.2 million tons in the month. In terms of value, crude steel imports slipped 11.1% on an annual basis to $792 million.
Citing World Steel Association data, the group said global crude steel production fell 2.5% to 153 million tons in the same period.
- Seven-month figures
Turkey produced 19.4 million tons of crude steel in January-July, down 2.4% compared to the same period last year.
Crude steel exports in the first seven months registered a drop of 9.9% to 11.8 million tons, while generating $8.1 in income.
