ANKARA (AA) - Ban on flights to Iraq's Sulaymaniyah will be lifted on Friday, Turkey’s transport and infrastructure minister said on Wednesday.
"Turkish Airlines will resume its flights from Istanbul to Sulaymaniyah, seven flights a weeks," Cahit Turhan told Anadolu Agency.
All international flights into the Kurdish region was suspended as of 6 p.m. local time Sept. 29, 2017 within the scope of notam announced by Iraqi central government.
The flight ban came into effect as a response by the Iraqi government to September 2017 illegitimate referendum on Kurdish regional independence.
