ANKARA (AA) - The Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TurkPatent) received 60,338 trademark applications -- 53,436 of them domestic -- in the first six months of 2018.
In June, TurkPatent received 7,768 trademark applications, down 15 percent year-on-year, according to TurkPatent data released on Monday.
TurkPatent also received 7,860 patent applications -- 2,838 domestic and 5,022 foreign -- in the first six months, up 0.1 percent on a yearly basis.
Applications fell 0.5 percent year-on-year in June to reach 1,351.
Meanwhile, the office also received 1,429 utility models and 21,659 design applications during the first half of the current year. Of them, 97.6 percent were utility models and 82.9 of the design applications were domestic.
Last year, 121,108 trademarks, 19,283 patents, 3,320 utility models, and 46,854 design applications were made.
Since 2011, Turkey has received more trademark applications annually than any other European country -- over 100,000.
