ISTANBUL (AA) - Sales of hybrid cars in Turkey overtook those of cars powered by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in January-February.
In the country, 6,979 hybrid cars were sold in the two-month period, while LPG-powered sales amounted to 3,658 units, according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency from the Automotive Distributers' Association.
Hybrid car sales had a share of 8.7% in the market, while LPG-powered cars' was 4.6%.
Overall, sales of cars and light commercial vehicles were up by 37.4% to reach 102,232 units in the same period.
While hybrid car sales were up by 227.8% year-on-year in January-February, LPG-powered car sales were up by 7.9%, and diesel-powered car sales down by 15.5%.
Electric car sales also posted a significant rise over the same period with 72.5%.
