ANKARA (AA) - The number of motor vehicle registrations in Turkey plummeted by 43.4 percent year-on-year in January, the country's statistics authority revealed on Friday.
A total of 66,486 first- and second-hand vehicles were registered in the first month of this year, down from 117,477 in January 2018, according to TurkStat.
On a monthly basis, the figure was up 18.5 percent.
The total number of road motor vehicles registered [...] surpassed 22.9 million by the end of January, TurkStat said.
In January, automobiles accounted for the brunt of new registrations -- 66.8 percent -- while small trucks accounted for 17.5 percent. Motorcycles represented 8.9 percent.
In terms of distribution of model brands for new registered cars, 18.3 percent were Renault, 16.4 percent Fiat and 9 percent Volkswagen.
