ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s opposition IYI (Good) Party called on the government to conduct an operation abroad to arrest the key member of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), the group behind the 2016 defeated coup.
Koray Aydin, the deputy chairman of IYI Party, said Turkey could bring back top FETO member Adil Oksuz, just did for Abdullah Ocalan.
"Conduct an operation and bring him [back to Turkey]," said Aydin.
Oksuz should be brought back to Turkey "by any means," opposition deputy stressed.
On Sunday, Turkey's Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said that Turkey knew the whereabouts of Oksuz.
Oksuz, a theology professor, is allegedly the “imam” of FETO members in the air forces and a key link to U.S.-based FETO leader Fetullah Gulen.
FETO orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
