ANKARA (AA) – At least 109 military judges have been dismissed for suspected links to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), Turkey's Ministry of National Defense confirmed Thursday.
They were discharged by a decision of the Military Judges Commission chaired by Defense Minister Fikri Isik, the ministry said in a statement.
The total number of military judges, which was 468 before the defeated July 15 coup, now stands at 209. Ten are still under investigation.
Led by Fetullah Gulen, FETO is accused of orchestrating the coup plot as well as being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.
The July 15 coup attempt left 241 people martyred and some 2,200 injured.
