DIYARBAKIR, Turkey (AA) – Three suspects were arrested with nearly 700 historical artifacts in Turkey’s southeastern Diyarbakir province, authorities said on Friday.
The suspects were apprehended while to trying to sell 660 bronze and silver coins, along with 35 other historical objects, for 400,000 Turkish liras (over $54,000), the provincial governorship said in a statement.
The recovered items were handed over to local museums and an investigation has been launched, it added.
