ISTANBUL (AA) – Some 3,000 runners will take part in the seventh edition of the Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail race in Turkey this month, organizers said on Friday.
The distance of the race is 119 kilometers (74 miles) with a variation in altitude of about 3,730 and it runs through the scenic Cappadocia region – a UNESCO World Heritage site – in Turkey’s central Nevsehir province.
The Ultra-Trail race will start at 7 a.m. local time (1000GMT) on Oct. 16 from the Urgup city center and the competitors will have under 24 hours to complete the course.
Salomon Group is the title sponsor and the corporate sponsors include Turkey’s Youth and Sports Ministry, the Turkish Athletic Federation, and authorities of Nevsehir and Urgup municipality, according to a statement by the organizers.
The race will be broadcast live on World Tour TV, it added.
The Cappadocia Team Games will also be held for the first time this year on Oct. 16-17.
In the short trail event, runners will cover 38 kilometers (26 miles) in relay format as a team of three people, with at least one woman.
The medium trail event will be over a distance of 63 kilometers (39 miles) and teams of six, with a minimum of two women, will run it as a relay.
