Turkey to speed up Istanbul Finance Center project

Turkiye Wealth Fund executive says project expected to be completed in 2021-end or at beginning of 2022

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkiye Wealth Fund backs the acceleration of The Istanbul Finance Center (IFC) project, general manager of the fund said on Tuesday.

"We aim to complete the project in 2021-end or at the beginning of 2022," Zafer Sonmez told Anadolu Agency.

The fund will be the initial financial investor in IFC's structure, he said.

"We eye to see not only finance companies but also firms run totally overseas oriented business," Sonmez added.

Established in 2016, Turkiye Wealth Fund holds the total or part of shares of several Turkish companies such as national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, telecommunications giant Turk Telekom, private lenders Ziraat and Halk, as well as Turkish Petroleum and Borsa Istanbul.
