Turkey: Unemployment stands at 13.5 pct in December

Number of jobless aged 15 and over reaches over 4.3 million, Turkish Statistical Institute says

ANKARA (AA) - The unemployment rate in Turkey was 13.5 percent in December 2018, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced Friday.

"The unemployment rate [was] 13.5 percent with 3.1 percentage point increase [from December 2017]," TurkStat said in a statement.

December's figure was also up from 12.3 percent from a month earlier.

The number of jobless aged 15 and over in the country rose to 4.3 million, a rise of 1 million from December 2017.
