ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index fell by 0.05 percent or 47.23 points Friday to start the last trading day of the week at 92,581.57 points.
The BIST banking sector index drops 0.13 percent while the holding sector rises 0.01 percent.
Among all sector indices, the tourism sector index posted the best performance, up 1.12 percent, while the chemical petrol plastic sector was the worst, down 0.34 percent.
On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was flat with a 79.15-point decrease to close the day at 92,628.80 points.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.2970 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Thursday's closing rate of 5.2950.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was stable at 6.0490 compared with the last close. One British pound traded for 6.8380 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 6.8310 by market close on Thursday.
The price of Brent oil was $62.02 per barrel as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Friday.
