Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at Friday's open

BIST 100 index falls 160 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index slipped 0.14%, or 161.36 points, on Friday to start the last transaction day of the week at 111,653.72 points.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.93% at 111,815.08 points with a daily trading volume of 8.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.1040 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, versus 6.0920 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.8540, versus 6.8170, and one British pound traded for 7.8880 Turkish liras. It was 7.8920 at Thursday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $49.61 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
