ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index, BIST 100, fell 765.79 points or 0.74 percent to open at 103,146.15 points on Tuesday.
The banking and holding sector indices went down by 0.66 and 0.86 percent respectively.
Among all sectors, the insurance sector index saw the biggest rise -- up 0.63 percent -- whereas the metalware machine index had the highest decline, going down 1.22 percent.
Turkey's benchmark stock index previously closed the first day of week down 2.19 percent at 103,911.94 points on Monday. The day’s trading volume was 5.7 billion Turkish liras (nearly $1.5 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate climbed to 3.9490 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630 GMT) on Tuesday, compared with Monday's close at 3.9180.
The EUR/TRY rate also increased to 4.6410 on Tuesday morning, up from 4.6130 at the close on Monday.
Brent oil price went up to $62.26 per barrel on Tuesday morning, up from $61.73 on Monday's close.
